Scottish berry grower and supplier Angus Soft Fruits has partnered with the Edinburgh Marathon Festival to fuel over 35,000 runners as they cross the finish line with delicious, nutrient packed AVA™ strawberries.
As the Official Strawberry Supplier for this year’s Edinburgh Marathon Festival, the AVA™ Berries team will be at the finish line to nourish Marathon runners. They will also be out and about on the streets of Edinburgh across the weekend, so hungry competitors can grab a punnet or two as they head home. The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is Scotland’s biggest running event attracting over 35,000 participants across the weekend. The marathon itself is the second largest in the UK, behind only London, and has sold out every year since 2008.
The AVA™ Berries Team takes nutrition and fitness seriously and have entered into the race also, with Hannah running the marathon, Rob & Neil running the Half marathon and Alix, Miryana, Andrew and Jill all running the Hairy Haggis Relay Race, raising money for their chosen charity – Enable Scotland.
“As a company, we are passionate about delivering great tasting berries that will delight customers each and every day and we’re very excited to be working with the Edinburgh Marathon Festival to help runners refuel at the finish line. Strawberries are the nation’s favourite summer snack, and our AVA™ varieties have been bred over the course of several years by the specialists at our in-house research and varietal development division, the Angus Breeding Programme, for improved flavour and appearance. Good luck to all those taking part in this year’s Edinburgh Marathon Festival and make sure you look out for your free AVA™ strawberries.
